Invitation to the Easter Project – “BOOM!” (updated - 29.2.2012)
Dear friends of JSVA,
Haven’t made any plans for the long Easter holiday? Want to spend a meaningful while thrilling Easter? Our second flagship project of the year “BOOM!” will certainly fulfill your wishes and expectations. We are delighted and would like to cordially invite both members and non-members to our annual Easter project “BOOM!”
The word ‘BOOM!’ may sound like another onomatopoeic description of explosion, however in our Easter Project we will be using this to show our desire of peace. “BOOM!” consists of 4 major events over a span of 3 weeks, and here are the details:

“BOOM!” is definitely the ideal way for participants to spend a meaningful Easter holiday. There’s a saying “Water dropping day by day wears the hardest rock away.” - As this proverb suggests, individually we may be weak and limited, but with many of determined youngsters upholding the same sense of responsibility. As the name suggests, our world is full of danger, conflicts and conspiracies; our world is like a bomb that may be ignited anytime, and it is everyone’s role to uphold peace. Through the medium of service, we hope that this sense of responsibility of upholding peace will be obtained. We hope everyone can ultimately achieve our theme this year – “Be the light at the end of the tunnel.”

Youth Change Summit 2012 (YCS 2012) by Humanity in Focus (updated 20.2.12)
Dear all,
Our association would like to cordially introduce Form 4-5 (Grade 10-11) students to the Youth Education Program - Youth for Change Summit 2012 (YCS) – “Parallel”, organised by Humanity in Focus (HIF).
Youth For Change Summit is the start of the journey of real world discovery. It includes three workshops, a simulation camp and a self-initiated campaign aiming at promoting global citizenship among the youth in Hong Kong. This 3-month programme will enable students to acquire knowledge on the interconnections between their lives in Hong Kong and those of their improvised neighbours in developing countries. More importantly, students will be empowered to become proactive agents for change.

Invitation to the Charity Ball – “Formas de Amor” (updated – 11.1.2012)
Dear all,
As Valentine’s Day is around the corner, our association is organizing a charity ball by the name Formas de Amor. This is the perfect opportunity to express our care for the society. 50% of the income will be donated to our Co-Organiser Caritas (Hong Kong).
Formas de Amor, which means “Ways to love” in Spanish, signifies that we should realize that there are other ways to show love and care for the society even as students. Here are the details:

“Velit”, which is ‘wishes’ in Latin, implicates our hope to spread our wishes to everyone we encounter. Velit is a 2-day programme of 3 major events, and here are the details:

Invitation to the Inauguration Ceremony of the 26th JSVA (updated - 22.10.2011)
Dear all,
Mark your calendars for our annual Inauguration Ceremony. The 26th JSVA Inauguration Ceremony will be held on 18th November. All members are cordially invited.
The Inauguration Ceremony is an opening ceremony in which the 26th JSVA officials will be introduced, thus marking the beginning of the year of 26th JSVA. Apart from that, it is a great opportunity for you to meet each other and familiarize yourselves with the upcoming events. For those members who have stated in their membership application form that they will pay for the membership fee on the inauguration day are reminded to bring along $50 on that day. For those who are not able to pay on the inauguration day are required to pay for $70 instead to the committee members in their schools afterwards.

The application for Sub-committee of the 26th JSVA is now open. The Sub-committee consists of 4 departments: Administration Department, Service Department, Programme Department and Promotion Department. Students from Secondary 3 to Secondary 5 are eligible to apply.
Please submit your COMPLETED application form and required task via email to subcom.jsva1112@gmail.com. After the first round of election, interviews will be held to select the finest candidates. The interview dates are 5th and 6th of November 2011, venue to-be-confirmed. The DEADLINE of application is 1st November 2011. Late submissions and incomplete entries will not be entertained. You are reminded to bring along the hard copy of your application form and task on the interview day.
