Invitation to the Easter Project - "Starburst" (updated - 26.02.2010)

Dear all,
We are delighted to invite you all to the annual Easter Project – Volunteer Training Scheme 2010. The event will be held on 20/3, 2/4, 4-17/4, and 24/4. Both members and non-members are cordially invited.

The Volunteer Training Scheme is a 5-day programme for you to learn how to be a good volunteer by gaining knowledge of essential skills and attitudes a good volunteer should have:

Day 1 - Orientation day, introducing you to new participants and giving you an idea of the project, which is to cooperate with your team members and produce a detailed proposal of a 2-day service programme.

Day 2 - Presentation and Training day, allowing you and your team members to present your ideas of the service programme to your fellow participants and learn the essential skills for a volunteer service worker through workshops;

Day 3 and 4 - Service days, giving you an opportunity to learn from the service programmes; and

Day 5 - Closing ceremony, allowing you to share your experience and evaluate the quality of the organized service programmes.

Here are some important dates of the activity:

20th March	Orientation Day
2nd April	Presentation and Training Days
4th – 17th April	Service Days (any 2 days within this period to be allotted by the OC)
24th April	Closing Ceremony

Through this project, we hope to provide you with an opportunity to have hands-on experience in organizing volunteer service, while enhancing your commitment and aspiration of helping others. Through organizing your very own service, not only can you learn the spirit of teamwork and cooperation, but we hope that you can also develop a sensitive and caring heart to the needy, realizing that it is not only enough to have the heart to serve, but it is also essential to listen to their individual needs and offer suitable help.

In order to estimate the resources required for the Easter Volunteer Training Scheme, if you plan to attend, may we ask you to submit your application forms on or before 10th March via jsva0910@gmail.com, or to any Executive Committee member if you can get in touch with them. Late comers will not be entertained as the quota for this activity is around 100 people.

Dress code is casual. We look forward to seeing you at this year’s Easter Volunteer Training Scheme. So be sure to apply so that you can help the needy by planning your very own service with new friends through this inspiring project!
